Paga Mine Land Tract
We acquired the original parent tract of approximately 1163.26 acres from Halliburton Energy Services, in 2005. The tract comprised an unmined portion of a 1,150-acre mining operation formerly owned by energy industry titan Halliburton. There had been serious talk at the time about turning this land into a regional municipal landfill. We recognized that this property represented a prime opportunity for industrial development in this part of the I-75 corridor, where any level land at all is in very short supply and rescued the land from this fate.
The property is currently under contract with famed developer Jim Jacoby. He is proposing a $1 billion-plus mixed-use project featuring as many as 1,400 single-family homes and 600 multi-family units. Trails, a golf course and water recreation access are all included in the plan.
The property was also approved for TAD financing which makes the land attractive for commercial development and is expected to bring nearly 2,000 jobs to Bartow County with an estimated payroll of over $60 million.
